For Adults n Seniors

An adult rabbit's diet should be made up of good quality pellets (in limited rations), fresh hay (timothy, oat or orchard grass), water and fresh vegetables. Anything other than these is a "treat" and should be given in small quantities.
We recommend that pellets make up less of a rabbit’s diet as it grows older. For adult bunnies, we recommend timothy pellets which has relatively high level of fibre (minimum 18%) and low level of protein (12-14%). And when you feed a lower quantity of pellets, you should replace the nutritional value (but without the calories), by increasing the amount of vegetables. And most importantly, provide unlimited fresh hay at all times of the day. This is the way to good rabbit health!
A healthy rabbit in his senior years can stick to the diet given during his adult years. However, diet can and should be adjusted according to medical issues, if any.

Here at The Busy Barn, we only sell plain pellets with the right nutritional components. They are a healthier choice compared to mixed pellets (pellets that include seeds, nuts, corn or dried fruits). Mixed pellets are unnecessarily high in sugars and fats and bunnies tend to choose and pick out the sweet nuts and fruits, ignoring the remaining "unappealing" plain pellets.
